The council of scientific & industrial research, CSIR has announced its dates for JRF/Lectureship exam (NET) which will be conducted in the month of December, 2012. CSIR will hold the joint CSIR-UGC test for junior research fellowship (JRF) and lectureship NET December 2012 in chemical sciences, earth, ocean and planetary sciences, engineering sciences, life sciences, mathematical sciences and physical sciences on 23/12/2012 for which the OMR application form and bulletin will be available in the designated branches of Indian bank and oriental bank of commerce from 21/08/2012 to 18/09/2012. The candidates aspiring to appear for the exam can also apply online at the dates mentioned on the official website of csirhrd.res.in According to the CSIR, the last date of receipt of duly completed OMR application form with all enclosures to the Sr. controller of the examinations, examination unit, HRDG, CSIR complex, library avenue, Pusa, new delhi-110012 is 24/09/2012 and 01/10/2012 for far flung area candidates. The UGC NET is a short for national eligibility test. It is an examination conducted by the university grants commission in order to ascertain the eligibility for lectureship and for awarding the junior research fellowship. The examination is meant for Indian nationals and aims to implement uniform standards on aspirants entering the teaching and research field in various disciplines. This exam takes place twice a year in June and then in December. It is conducted for the following subjects: *Humanities- including languages *Social sciences *Environmental sciences *Forensic science *Computer science and applications *Electronic science As far as the UGC-CSIR NET is concerned, it is conducted for the following subjects: *Life sciences *Chemical sciences *Physical sciences *Mathematical sciences *Earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences. The test for junior research fellowship (JRF) has been in recognition since 1984 while in the year 1988, the Indian government granted the UGC, right to conduct the NET exam. Similar to the UGC NET JRF exam is the SLET exam known as state level eligibility test. SLET is similar to that of SET, state eligibility test. The minimum educational eligibility criterion for applying into the SLET is a post graduation in any discipline. The candidate also needs to have completed his master’s degree with more than 55% of marks. SLET is conducted in the states like Maharashtra & Goa, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, west Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
