Allowing remote MySQL connections is usually done to enable an application on your personal computer to gain access to a database around the server. Note: By default, all IPs are blocked and should be included to an access list. To discover what your personal IP address is, check whatsmyip.com. Step #1: Scroll into the “Databases” section. Step #2: Click on the “Remote MySQL” icon. Step #3: Enter in the “IP Address” from the computer that is to be making the remote connection. Note: If you’re connecting from a dynamic IP address, you need to use the “%” wildcard value.
