Callaway Golf have pushed all boundaries with the new Callaway FT-iQ Driver. The Ft-IQ is 30% Straighter and longer that the FT-5 which was the longest driver on tour in 2008 averaging 309 yards. The new Callaway FT-iQ Driver is the next generation driver from the company that brought you the FT-i and the eye catching design of the latest model has been inspired by both the F22 Raptor stealth fighter and the latest supercars. As well as its stunning look the FT-iQ is packed with technology that makes it the longest and most accurate driver that Callaway have ever produced. A multi-material driver the Callaway FT-iQ features a carbon composite, titanium, aerospace grade aluminium, as well as a dense metal alloy that all combine to allow Callaway's designers to position weight in the FT-iQ's external weight unit to generate both distance and provide the accuracy that makes the FT-iQ a remarkable 35% more accurate than its predecessor. With TaylorMade clubs, I’m still perfectly happy to tonk it in the general direction of the fairway with my old TaylorMade R9 SuperDeep TP Driver, rather than the newer R9 or R9 460 which, too, will be more or less swallowed up when the Taylormade R9 SUPERTRI Driver, already a hit on the pro Tours, arrives at a store near you later this month. The FT-iQ simply epitomizes clever configuration with this fusion technology. It also takes on a sneaky weighting strategy. Callaway allocates Draw weighting to the back corners in order to reduce slices and fades. If you already have a nice, straight shot, Callaway has a Neutral weighting option to give a lower and more powerful shot. Overall, customers are saying that its easy to use, has incredible distance, and fires fairly straight. Sure enough, I hit plenty of solid shots that launched high and flew off the face with a healthy-sounding thwack, but also a fair few that were less than impressive – shots resulting from that mild apprehension at address.
