If you're a business owner or manager who is concerned about how productive your employees are being during working hours, you're not alone. In fact, lack of employee productivity has become an increasingly challenging issue for employers over the past several years. This is due, in large part, to the advent of the Internet. Given the fact that there's almost literally a world of information at the fingertips of most employees throughout the course of every workday, it's no wonder that so many of them succumb to the temptations presented by Internet access. Although the Internet is legitimately used for business-related purposes day in and day out, employees may also be tempted to do some shopping, look up movie and restaurant reviews, communicate with family and friends, or any one of the countless other personal tasks they can perform using the Internet. In order to try to resolve this problem, many employers have turned to using computer monitoring software. This invasive means of Employee Computer Monitoring, which is often referred to as "spyware," may provide business owners and managers with information regarding which websites workers are visiting and how often they visit them, but it doesn't address the real issue at the heart of the problem, which is a lack of productivity. Instead, spyware simply provides information and doesn't present any possible solutions. Many employees, rightfully so, are dismayed to discover that their employer is "spying" on them through use of this type of software. This can result in a lack of trust on the part of the employee. Once trust is eroded, so is the motivation on the part of employee to work harder. Once an employee loses motivation, his or her level of productivity worsens. Another reason that Computer Monitoring Software is ineffective has to do with smart phone and tablet PC technology. Recent studies show that the vast majority of workers in the U.S. now carry smart phones with them at all times, and an increasing number are beginning to carry tablet PCs. This means, of course, that your employees still have access to the Internet via their smart phones and tablets regardless of what type of monitoring software you utilize in an effort to track their Internet usage. All things considered, it's hard to understand why an employer would choose monitoring software to begin with. Assume that you choose to use spyware and successfully gather information about your employees' Internet usage – now what? Just because you have that information doesn't mean that you've solved your problem and increased your employees' productivity level. In essence, you've just spent money on software that only makes your problem worse. For more information regarding Employee Computer Monitoring, please visit Computer Monitoring Software
