However, the level of service via an online system will vary from company to company. If you are sending regular deliveries then here are some useful online features to look out for. Booking / collection – can these be arranged online and will the courier collect from the address you need? If you can’t wait in for a collection is there the option of a drop-off point? Track and trace – does the courier offer an online track and trace service once your parcel has been collected? Is the track and trace regularly updated so you know exactly where your parcel is? Address book – can your courier site store the addresses that you use regularly to save you having to type them out each time? Collection from alternative addresses – does the courier allow you to arrange collection from alternative addresses if necessary or are you only allowed to register a single collection address? Downloadable PODs – once you know your item has been delivered can you download a proof of delivery form to show who signed for the goods and keep this information for your records? Shipment protection – does the courier offer adequate shipment insurance to cover any potential loss or damage during transit? Do they offer extended liability for more valuable goods? Timescales – can the courier deliver goods within the timescales you require? Online account – if you are making regular deliveries will the courier be prepared to offer you an account so you can manage your payments on a monthly basis?
