Formerly a late 19th century handball court, Jeu de Paume, a gallery of contemporary art in the Tuileries Garden next to the Place de la Concorde Paris, is where art aficionados head to view the latest offerings in an ultra modern space, designed to showcase artist's works at their best. In 1991 the new purpose was found when it opened its doors as France's first national gallery for contemporary art. In its current incarnation the Jeu de Paume has no permanent collection and therefore is flexible and is able to serve as a place where artists and the public can take a new look at great modern and contemporary artists. It is also a place where artists from all over the world can come to be inspired, learn and show their work.
