Haunting Opportunities For Ghostwriters - What Does A Ghostwriter Do |

If you want to be a ghost-writer, you are probably daydreaming about writing the autobiography of your favourite Hollywood actor or sports star. But ghost-writers do not just write biographies. While you're waiting around for the big ghostly opportunities, don't skip the smaller, more regular chances to haunt some clients. Corporate Material A corporate client will give you a wide range of ghost-writing opportunities, such as web content, annual reports or correspondence. If you demonstrate an understanding of the particular business, you could ghost-write white papers, which are commercial documents that present the benefits or technical features of a specific product. Articles Most people have a story of triumph or discovery, but only a few have the skills to share their knowledge with the world. Ghost-writing is a fascinating opportunity to channel someone else's expertise. Rather than wearily trawling through research material, you are talking to the person who did the original research. Your job is to make the material engaging and informative so readers will appreciate this person's work. Blogs A website without a blog or some regularly updated content can seem like a ghost town. Potential clients might visit once and assume nobody works there any more. Many business owners valiantly write their own web content, but it is time consuming, particularly for a small business owner. Also, poorly written blogs might not reflect the expertise and experience of the company. As a ghost-writer, you can breathe new life into the web-site by transforming that awkward repetitive blog into fresh informative material. Speeches Your speech-writing clients will be the most appreciative and relieved of all your customers. Public speaking can be a terrifying prospect. Many people dread their upcoming speech so much that they avoid preparing what they are going to say. As a ghost-writer, you can prepare a snappy, appropriate speech, giving the potential presenter extra time to prepare and polish his performance. Songs If you are musically inclined and scribble lyrics in your spare time, you might find a market for your songs among local bands. If you do sell your lyrics to a band, make sure you are clear whether you have sold the words for a flat rate, or whether you expect royalties. The Ghostly Portfolio The problem with being a ghost-writer is most of your portfolio is confidential. You can't pass on company information to show potential clients your talent for writing riveting accounting reports; and many experts prefer to not to share the glory of their thought-provoking articles and blogs (they provided the original material, after all). Yet potential clients want to know your range of experience and they want to know how your "voice" adapts to the particular subject matter and forum. Some clients won't mind you taking credit for standard web content or publicly available material, so you can gradually add a few website links to your portfolio. And if you are writing a series of researched articles on behalf of a client, write one extra article on the same subject in your own name. This will show future clients you are familiar with a particular topic, without compromising your original client's material or confidentiality. essay contacts
