Places to Cycle in Bristol Are you looking for things to do in Bristol? Bristol is the UK’s first cycling city. The Ashton Court Estate andLeigh Woods in Bristol attract mountain bikers from across Europe although the trails here are not just for the pros. There are trails for every skill level and below we list some of the best places for mountain biking in Bristol: The Nova Trail – If it is your first time attempting to cycle Bristol the Nova Trail is a great place to start. Graded blue (moderate) it gives a great flowing ride. In places the trail splits so you can continue on the blue trail or advance along a red (difficult) alternative. Super Nova Trail- This trail is graded red, it branches off from the easier Nova Trail. It offers a great challenge for more experienced riders. YerTiz Trail – With a blue grade this narrow and engaging trail weaves its way through the woodland. The trail features berms (banked corners), rollers (bumps) and drops and climbs, requiring a mountain bike but also suitable for relative novices to off-road cycling. The Keener Skills Loop – A blue trail which includes features such as small drops, rock gardens and rollers – the perfect route to progress your riding ability. If you are comfortable on this trail, there is the possibility to divert onto more difficult features if you wish. Gert Lush Trail – Narrow and technical, we recommend that it is only suitable for experienced off-road cyclists. A great (if very short) ‘taster’ of a red grade trail. If you don’t own a bike, you can look up Bristol bike hire facilities on our Adventure Cycle map. Bike hire removes the stress of bringing your own bike and is also the perfect way to experience cycling without making the commitment to buy. 1 South West’s map also contains other information on important ‘facilities’ such as bike sales and cyclist friendly accommodation. Whilst you are out and aboutcycling in Bristol, other places to visit in Bristol include a new café built in place of the existing Golf Course Café at Ashton Court. It has been specially designed to welcome cyclists and includes a bike hire / sales outlet. This makes it a great place to grab a bite and a bike! So next time you’re looking for something to do that is fun and free, cycle Bristol!.
