Education is an important part of someone's life. In fact, a person spends an average of 16 years attending to school to learn different things. But according to studies, the length of time spent by students inside the classroom may not be enough for them to have a better grasp on the subjects and lessons being taught to them. Some students need tutorials beyond the class hours. Due to this, many nonprofit organizations (NPOs) offer after-school programs for certain target participants. In the United States and in some other countries, the phrase "after-school program" has become a household name to all pupils and parents. Most of the NPOs offer these services to underprivileged and at-risk youths, students coming from low-income families, and for children from the minority groups. These services are mostly offered for free. Numerous foundations in the U.S. are also interested in supporting community projects related to after-school activities. They are open for proposals for grants for after-school programs. The Valuable Initiatives These worthwhile causes mostly include the following activities: Literacy programs Literacy has always been the bedrock of learning. Through literacy programs, participants enhance their knowledge and mastery of learning areas as they are taught of different new ideas and thoughts on these subjects and areas: reading, spelling, and computer education. Tutorials By means of tutorials, students will have a better understanding on what their current and future topics are all about. These are common in reading, mathematics, grammar, science, and foreign languages. Homework assistance Students who find it hard to do their homework can ask for assistance through after-school activities. Usual home assignments include problem solving, mathematical computations, and others. Writing the Proposal When all the plans are already set for the implementation of this worthwhile community event except for financial aspect and/or materials, supplies, and equipment to be used, it's time to write convincing proposals for grants for after-school programs. Although there are many foundations interested in funding these meaningful projects, it is important that the nonprofit organization will create a formal document requesting for grants. Failing to produce a good proposal will barely catch the attention of the foundation's key officials. Hence, your chances to receive funding would definitely diminish. Here are some important tips on creating a convincing proposal: Introduce the organization. Give information on its history, mission and vision statements, and key personnel. Cite the reasons of need for the project. Support each reason with related studies and research. Specify the ultimate goal of the group in pursuing the implementation of the initiatives. Also, cite the objectives to be accomplished in attaining the goal. Tell more about the project. Funders are very much interested in knowing their specifics. Give details on location, target audience, demographics, specific activities and other services to offer, risk evaluation, supporters, publicity strategies to make, and timeline of activities. Give the funder an idea on what to expect beyond the project has been finished. Cite its impact on the program beneficiaries, on the organization, and the community. college-paper rewiew
