It's that time of year again folks. Dig out your wellies, stitch the mittens back on your winter coat and put on an extra pair of socks because it's getting chilly! Take a look at our guide to the very best of chunky winter knits for the fashion conscious man. You’ve got to stay warm, and what better way than with a chunky knitwear jumper? Turtlenecks, bulky cardigans and blazers are some of the most fashionable items to look for. As for prints, Nordic and Fair Isle are hot this year (as witnessed at Junya Watanabe, Gant and Ralph Lauren). Make sure you find something warm and comfortable. Choose tweed, duffle, or military coats if you want something smart or opt for ski and varsity styles for a more street-chic and casual look. Invest in a heavy knit scarf to keep you warm throughout the winter months. Don't be afraid to spend a decent amount - as chances are it will last for years. Team it with your skinny fit shirt and suit trousers for a great look that's practical and warm during the day and with a t-shirt and brogues when going out in the evening. If your budget only allows one scarf, make sure you buy it in a neutral colour so that it coordinates with lots of items in your wardrobe. Try teaming a loose knit jumper with jeans and a military jacket to keep you extra warm when planning a day of Christmas shopping. You can also wear loose knit sweaters with neutral coloured chinos and brogues and a t-shirt underneath for minimal layering which will prevent you getting too hot. These also look great with black winter boots and a trench style wool jacket with a belted waist to draw you in a give you more of a defined shape. V- neck wool sweater vests are perfect for layering in winter. Wear underneath a plaid shirt and relaxed jeans for a great daytime look and with a smart shirt and camel coloured chinos for an evening looks that will take you straight from the office to a bar on a Friday night. When choosing a winter coat, why not try one with a chunky wool lining? There are plenty on the market and they look good with just about everything. Choose one in neutral colour like navy, grey or black so it coordinates. Remember you will be wearing it every day so darker colours might be a better choice.
