Police are all but certain the human remains found in two Vancouverschools are the missing hand and foot of alleged killer LukaMagnotta s victim, Lin Jun. The right hand and foot found by staff at False Creek Elementaryand St. George s School were sent by mail from Montreal. We ve got all the reasons to believe it could be linked to thehomicide in Montreal, said Montreal police commander IanLafrenierer in an interview with the CBC, adding DNA testing mustbe completed for final confirmation. In a press conference Wednesday Lafrenierer said notes were foundin the Vancouver packages, but police have no idea why the twoschools would have been chosen, other than to say Magnotta is knownto have travelled widely, including the United States West Coast. Bankruptcy filings show that in 2007 Magnotta owed $17,000 and hislargest outstanding debt in was $6,882 owed to an auto-leasingcompany in Burnaby, B.C. Vancouver NPA Coun. George Affleck, whose 11-year-old son attendsFalse Creek Elementary, said parents are completely confused as towhy the school was chosen. I can only think that someone that went to the school, (Magnotta)may know? Affleck said. Affleck said the school is diverse in terms of parental incomes andethnicity, and there are no known celebrities that have attended. St. George s School, on Vancouver s westside, is billed as one ofCanada s premi re boarding schools for boys, with students from18 countries enrolled. According to a trail of statements on the Internet believed to befrom Magnotta, he has shown a fascination with celebrity,publicity, wealth and power. Dr. John Bradford, head of forensic psychiatry at the University ofOttawa, speculates that the alleged crimes and behaviour ofMagnotta could be motivated by a sick bid for attention. Is (Magnotta) extremely psychopathic and he wanted to bringhimself into a position of tremendous notoriety, to become infamousas a Canadian homicide perpetrator? People with extremepsychopathology would do these sorts of things, Bradford said. That is my gut feeling. Vancouver police turned the investigation over to Montreal policelate Tuesday, saying the right hand and foot from an unidentifiedvictim will be sent to Montreal today. Police in Vancouver won tspeculate about why the two schools were chosen, or any Magnottalinks to Vancouver. Magnotta, 29, who was captured in Berlin after a six-dayinternational manhunt, is believed to have murdered a man andmailed a left hand and foot to the offices of the Conservative andLiberal parties last week. Lin s torso was found in a suitcasebehind Magnotta s apartment in Montreal. If the remains found in Vancouver are confirmed to be Lin s, theonly missing part of his body would be his head, which could havebeen mailed according to Montreal police.
