New slide phone has a slightly misleading name. Is it really a deluxe mobile, or just a name? Mobile phone manufacturer Samsung have this week announced the release of yet another slide phone to add to their collection, the Samsung J800 Luxe – it seems as though they pretty much have the slide phone corner of the market sorted. While the Samsung J800 Luxe is quite a stylish and compact looking mobile phone, in keeping with the Ultra range but not quite as slim, it really does not have the looks or the features to be nicknamed the Luxe! Not that it is necessarily a badly done phone, just unfortunately quite average really – although the price should hopefully help to make it more popular. With a sadly unimpressive 2 megapixel camera (which is lacking in autofocus unfortunately), 2.2 inch screen, small 18 MB internal memory, music and video player plus an FM radio the features mean it is a pretty average phone. It does have a few redeeming features though, it is a 3G mobile phone and the memory can be expanded by microSD card. And it does have a built in office document viewer, HTML browser, POP3 / IMAP4 mail client, RSS reader, Mobile Tracker and HSDPA for faster downloads and internet browsing. The Samsung J800 Luxe is sadly not Samsung’s best effort at a mobile phone recently, but it should be a good and reasonably priced option for those wanting a 3G slide phone, perhaps it will be a decent price on Pay As You Go. There is no details on a release date yet, nor the cost – but as stated earlier I would expect it to be priced quite reasonably.
