Emergency personnel had to work carefully to remove a male youthfrom the wreckage of a sports car that smashed into a building inWindsor on Monday morning. The single-vehicle crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. on TecumsehRoad just east of Walker Road. A red two-door Ford Mustang GT apparently spun out of control,careened over the sidewalk on the north side of the street, andcollided with a wall at 2478 Tecumseh Rd. E. Stacey Bornais, who resides at the building, said she was in bedwhen she was shaken by a loud bang. "I thought it was thunder," said Bornais."I'm on the main floor. I'm right behind thiswall." Bornais said she ran out of the building to investigate and saw thewrecked car and its four occupants: all young males in Catholichigh school uniforms. According to Bornais, three of the youthful occupants were climbingout of the wreckage, but the fourth — a backseat passenger— seemed stuck. Bornais said the teen was conscious and telling his friends hecouldn't move. "They were all scared. They were all in shock," shesaid. Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the vehicle in order tofree the victim. He was taken to hospital for treatment ofundisclosed injuries. Bornais said the other three occupants of the vehicle looked likethey had some minor cuts and bruises, but otherwise appearedunhurt. Windsor police cordoned the area and redirected westbound trafficon Tecumseh Road while firefighters and paramedics worked. The wreckage was removed and the scene was cleared by 12:30 p.m. The accident remains under police investigation. No word yet on thecause of the crash. Bornais said she and her two dogs have been living at 2478 TecumsehRd. E. since November. The imprint of a wheel was visible in the damaged concrete wall.Automobile debris was strewn across the sidewalk. Bornais pointed out that the glass windows of her residence arelocated only about 30 feet from the point of impact. "That could have been my bed," she said.
