With everyday the news about serial murders and gang rape echoing our ears, it is high time we take some action to reduce the rate of crimes happening. Crimes can only be reduced as it is impossible to put a full stop to these ongoing incidents. We cannot blame anyone as all such events have been going on for quite some time. Stressing more on the recent happened gang rape issue, we can directly say that our surrounding today is not 100% safe for women to travel alone freely. There is no doubt that women are of the same position as men today in every field but, when it comes to protection and security we can simply say females are not safe anywhere. Working women keep traveling everyday and to ensure that they are traveling safe some steps have to be taken by females themselves. How long will we warn men to not go on the wrong path. Also it is seen that after several punishments and convincing men and others to stop bad thinking and doing the result have always been negative. Crimes were going on then and they are still. Dressing should be appropriate Dress should be worn according to the place . Wearing short and revealing dress in offices and trains is not appropriate that should be avoided. Tops too if worn should not be tight, transparent and revealing. Dress indeed plays an important role as bad dressing attracts eyes and provokes men to do something wrong which is against the law. Avoid traveling alone to unknown places If you have been called for an interview or party alone to an unknown place make sure you do not go alone as you never know you could become a victim of rape, kidnap or murder. Carry a cellphone along always Cell phone is a device which today every person uses. In that case make sure you carry your personal device every where you go as that can be helpful during emergency. You could immediately call your friends, family if you are in trouble or text your close ones for help if you smell something fishy. Install a security application in your phone which has the facility to track your location if you are lost somewhere to get details about where you are. Mobile applications many a time proves to be very handy. Use Prepaid taxis instead of post paid ones Prepaid taxis are always better than post paid ones. Apart from these two options the best would be to hire a vehicle along with other travelers to reach a particular destination. These points have to be kept in mind by every woman while traveling. Apart from this if you are visiting a new place make sure you are aware of the spoken language there as it is very important for communication. Prolonged eye contact with men too should be avoided by women and lastly a women should know how to defend herself when she gets stuck in a risky situation.
