The lake has a depth of around twenty feet although it can become sixty feet deep during the monsoon season and is mainly fed by water running off the nearby hills. The Damdama Lake is a popular weekend getaway spot and enjoys a somewhat central location. There are plenty of adventure activities to do at the lake. This includes valley crossing, rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, parasailing and cycling. It is also quite popular with bird watchers as it is home to nearly two hundred species of birds. The lake and the surrounding area form a gorgeous setting for a picnic. Visitors can arrive early and try out various activities before finding a nice spot to have lunch amidst the peaceful landscapes. The best time to visit the place is between the months of October and March. The weather is generally warm and it can get quite hot during the summer months. It is only nine kilometres from Sohna, twenty three kilometres from Gurgaon and around forty two kilometres from Delhi. Although one can get there by public transport the most convenient way to reach this destination is to hire a car. The closest train station is the Basai Dhankot Railway Station in Gurgaon.
