Bidding for a tender requires a lot of hard work and patience. The patience starts right from the phase where the company is selecting a contract or waiting for a client to throw a contract in the market for bidding. What follows is the hard work. There needs to be a proper planning and a road map for how to move ahead with the tender process step by step. But, Majority of the time, companies do just the opposite. They go unplanned and end up losing the contract. Following are some of the mistakes that organisation make during the Tender process: 1. It is seen that many companies are keen on just bidding. Wrong tender selection is the biggest mistake since it defeats the whole purpose of bidding. It wastes time, resources and money. The whole process gets messed up once a company selects to bid for a contract that it doesn't even have the basics for. This happens primarily because of less or zero market research before bidding for a contract. 2. Even when companies select a right contract to bid for, lack of planning sets them back. One of the mistakes that companies do frequently is selecting the right contract and not planning for it afterwards. Companies should do market research before bidding for a contract and do proper planning for the same. 3. Lack of a proper team assigned to a particular contract is yet another mistake that companies make and pay a huge price for later. A proper dedicated team should be made for every contract a company bids for. Roles should be assigned and proper responsibilities must be given to each individual. 4. One of the mistakes made by companies in the tender process is not understanding the client's expectation or needs from the contract and assuming things on their own. Having a perception or assumption for a contract can destroy a contract. For, you work on the lines of the project that you think is correct while the client is expecting something else out of the contract and you. Hence, the company should actually spend time realising what the client demands from the company and the contract. 5. Tender letter is one of the major things that the companies do a mistake at. It should be written very professionally and with utmost care. A tender letter should be convincing and should make your company stand out. 6. Companies forget to recheck the documents and their order which is very important when applying for a contract. Companies should always get that done by a professional.
