When most people consider storage boxes, they will usually think of plastic storage boxes or bins that have snap on lids and are stackable. What about wooden storage boxes? How do these variety hold up against other kinds of storage units? Wooden storage boxes can come in many shapes and sizes. Most homes have these items as decorative furniture in living rooms and dens. Because these storage boxes are made of wood, they can be painted or stained to match any design or decor. They have the added advantages of becoming part of a room's decor, style and furnishings. Often times, a well placed wooden storage unit can blend in with its surroundings, giving a designer piece added functionality as storage. Others employ added functionality as seats or foot rests. The wood variety of storage box has some disadvantages however. They can be bulky. Wood is very heavy, compared with other materials (aluminum, plastics). Moving these storage units can be a challenge empty, let alone full of stored items. Wood storage units are also much more expensive than their plastic counterpart. But this disadvantage is minimized if the stylistic component of the unit is considered. Plastic storage boxes, on the other hand, also come in many shapes and sizes. Colors are not an issue as well. They are lightweight, stackable, sometimes collapsable, and easy to move. Plastic storage bins can be had from almost any merchant for around $5, making them quite inexpensive. On the downside, they do have some disadvantages. I'm no style snob, but good luck incorporating plastic storage boxes into your great room decor. They really only serve one purpose - storage. Whatever type of storage container you are looking for, whether it be a stylish, functional wooden storage box, or an inexpensive, practical plastic storage box, make your life more organized!
