With so many advances in the medical community over the last decade, it is now possible for people to seek effective treatment for hundreds of conditions which previously would have proved fatal. Unfortunately, many of these treatments are only available through a handful of providers throughout the entire country. In many cases, this will mean that patients will be required to secure the services of an air ambulance company in order to provide them with the necessary transportation to access these treatment facilities. The problem that many of these patients and their families will experience is that with so many different air ambulance providers to choose from, it can be incredibly difficult to know which is the right air ambulance company for their needs. This is why I wanted to take the time to offer these patients and their families a simple guide to choosing the right air ambulance company for their medical transportation needs. Step 1: Identify at least three possible candidates based upon recommendations from your family, friends, and medical professionals. Trying to research every single air ambulance company in existence is a task that could easily take several months to complete. Since most medical transports are done on an emergency basis, it is relatively safe to assume that you do not have this kind of time available to choose your transportation company. This is why it is necessary for you to narrow your selection as quickly as possible. The most efficient way to accomplish this without compromising the quality of your candidates is to ask other people in your life to provide you with a recommendation based upon their own personal experiences. If you do not have any family members or friends that have used air ambulance services in the past, consider asking your physician or another medical professional to provide you with the necessary recommendations. Step 2: Make a list of questions which will help you to obtain the information you need when contacting each air ambulance company you are considering. In order to ensure that you are ready for your consultation with your chosen candidates, it is always best to write down your questions before making contact. This list of questions should allow you to obtain all of the information you need about the company in order to verify whether or not they are qualified for the job. Be sure to ask questions about the type of aircraft they will be using, their safety record, the number of medical professionals who will be on the transport flight, and the training of all personnel associated with the transport. You will also ask questions about the company's license in order to ensure they are properly licensed to operate in your home state. Step 3: Take the time to consult with each air ambulance company in person, and request a quote for their services. It is difficult to tell whether or not someone is being sincere when communicating over the telephone. This is why it is advised that you take the time to have a face to face consultation with each air ambulance company that you are considering. This consultation will be your opportunity to ask all of the questions you prepared in step 2, and your chance to request a detailed quote for their services. Be sure to inquire as to whether or not ground transportation is also included in the quote you are provided, or if these services will be billed separately. Step 4: Compare the information you have received from all three companies, and choose the one the best fits your financial and medical needs.
