The Corolla line of compact and subcompact cars of Toyota is undoubtedly one of the most-loved car models all over the world. As of 2012, the Corolla line has sold over 39 million units. The Corolla has gone through a lot of major redesigns, including the Toyota Corolla Runx NZE121 model. The company coined the model name from the English “run” and the letter X; together the name signifies “Ultimate Run.” It’s an interesting 5-door hatchback that’s worth a closer look. If you would like to see how Corollas are made, you can visit any of Toyota’s manufacturing and assembly plants in Indaiatuba and Sao Paulo in Brazil; Cambridge and Ontario in Canada; Indonesia; the Philippines; Malaysia, Tianjin in China; Bangalore in India; Taiwan; Turkey; Thailand; Venezuela; Durban in South Africa; and of course, Japan. The company used to manufacture Corollas in California in the United States as well, but production there ended in March 2010. The Runx is a Corolla because it shares the same chassis. As Toyota developed Corolla models over the years, it came up with several models such as the Corolla Levin, Corolla Ceres, Sprinter Trueno, and the Corolla FX hatchback, which then became the Corolla Runx. The Sprinter became the Allex. In 2006, both the Allex and Runx were replaced by the Auris. The Runx only had a short run on the assembly line as a result of the constant updating of Corolla models. The Toyota Corolla Runx NZE121 is part of a special group of 1500-cc, four-wheel-drive sedans launched in 2001. Back then, sales were exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store dealerships in Japan only, but nowadays the Runx can be bought from Japanese used vehicle exporters for an affordable price. In 2004, Toyota released an X Aerotourer package with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. It had front-wheel drive, DOHC supercharger, and 4-speed automatic transmission. Other releases include an X Limited package, X Limited Navi Edition, and X Limited Navi Special in 2002. All had automatic transmission and 1500cc engine displacement. The 2006 Toyota Corolla Runx X HID 1NZ model has these standard features: driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock brakes, rear window wiper, power windows, air conditioning, tinted glass, alloy wheels, CD player, power mirrors, and power door locks. Pre-owned units in excellent condition (no accidents) can be bought from Japanese exporters for less than five thousand US dollars (FOB price). Older models would cost less, making a used Toyota Corolla Runx NZE121 model a wise buy. In January 2013, Toyota unveiled a concept car, the Corolla Fiura, on which they say the new Corolla sedan model design would be based on. Enthusiasts have long been looking forward to something new in terms of the Corolla, whose design over the years has been observed to be lacking, compared to its contemporaries. The concept car is sporty and more aggressive and seeks to appeal to the younger generation of consumers. That’s still a long way off, however. For now, thrifty consumers are advised to buy used vehicles that are fuel-efficient and perform well despite having had a few thousand miles on their odometers. Odometer readings aren’t that important anyway, especially if you have a Toyota Corolla Runx NZE121, which can run for a lot of miles more.
