Like other field of medicine, Dental medicine has also evolved through the years. Now, whatever dental problem one might have is easy to solve. Though to be able to achieve the desired solution to a dental case, be it extreme or moderate, one should find a professional dentist to solve whatever dental concern they might have. A dentist is a health care practitioner that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease and conditions pertaining to oral cavity. She/he can also be called a dental surgeon. However before being able to practice the profession of dentistry one must finish the course and pass the required units and national examinations. A dentist should complete the required courses such as general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and even calculus before being able to continue to study further to become a licensed dentist. To be a licensed dentist, one must complete an accredited dental school curriculum. A Dentist should be able to master all clinical competencies and pass the national board examination given by the state. Once these requirements are met, the newly graduate dental doctor will be awarded the title Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine depending on the dental school they have attended. Still with the degree that a dentist has earned one should still further his studies for more additional knowledge. Since, dentistry has many branches to explore and accumulate additional training to better equip himself in handling a variety of cases and other surprises that may come up during treatment. Furthermore, dentists should participate in continued education, attending lectures and seminars to learn of recent developments of their field of study, practice new methods and at the same time earn additional continued education hours since it is a specific requirement for dentists. Now a day, Orthodontics is one of the most in demand branch of dentistry. Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry which is concerned with the study and treatment of improper bites, which may result to tooth irregularity which a can cause dislocation or disproportion of the jaw alignment.
