drug addiction">Drug addiction is a common phenomenon in the contemporary world. There is no society or country that is not facing problems involving the drug abuse or drug addiction. Some countries are experiencing this problem to such an extent that the normal operations of that country or state get hampered. The law enforcer’s people along with the strong legislation are also getting failed in preventing the culture of drug abuse. In most of the countries on this earth, crimes related to drug abuse are subjects to highest level of punishments such as death sentences. General people, with no experience of drug related incidence, often wonder which force is driving the drug abusers/ addicts so crazy that no hard/severe punishments are getting able in preventing them from abusing. Below we provide some facts that act around the craziness of drug addiction. How drug addiction works: a conceptual idea The drug addiction is also referred to as substance dependence. In simple language, drug addiction means a person’s strong craving for intake of drugs. Most of the time, this craving is so severe, that the respective person cannot do or live without taking a dose of a particular drug. Naturally the question arises, how this severe level of craving is created by drugs, especially when general delicious food items cannot create such cravings. To explain the process of drug addiction easily, we can consider a rewarding system. Just imagine a childhood scenario of yours. Parents always try to make their children follow some standard behavior, rules and regulation. Such as “don’t tell a lie”, “don’t make noise while studying”, “don’t make the home nasty” etc. They get the children adapted to those rules, patents punish their child whenever it gets distracted or behaves contrary to the rules. And whenever the child acts accordingly to the rules, parents give reward to child (chocolates, toys etc). By continuing this process for duration, the child gets adopted to rules and standards. The same “reward and punishment” methodology is applicable in drug addiction. The first time a person takes drug, he experiences high level of pleasure and increased physical & mental capability. This may be compared to rewards. The extent of pleasure (reward) here is so extreme that human brain notes this association (DRUG-> PLEASSURE) strongly. To get the reward aging, the concerned person again takes drug. And whenever the person tries to refrain from taking that drug, the punishment is given (severe types of mental and physical inconvenience). By delaying or denying taking drug, the person experiences those severe kings of inconveniences. Thus to avoid such punishments and to get the rewards, people takes drugs in a regular pattern. And thus drug addiction is happened. The above explanations may seem unrealistic, but that is the basic concept or system or methodology that is applied in drug addiction. You may ask which is the stuff or person here that gives the punishments or rewards to addicts. You can refer to the central nervous system and our inherent desire for pleasure and enjoyments as the main culprit here. Actually that central nervous system forces us to go for another dose of drug, so that the joy can be experienced again. The drugs upon entering into human body, affects our central nervous system and creates a sense of extreme pleasure along with increased physical and mental performance, which altogether makes us happy. And any delay in taking next dose, the central nervous systems creates strong sense of inconvenience. The drugs , took by the addicts , makes some disastrous change in central nervous systems that makes the nervous system to act in an abnormal way whenever drug elements are absent in body.
