If you are experiencing writers block, one great way to get through it is to read some of your older writing. These older articles might give you new ideas, new things that you can explore in writing new articles. If you wrote six months ago about animal abuse in a small town you could look at now as a good opportunity to write a follow up. Perhaps you wrote an article about a particular medical procedure, and it's been awhile, now is a good time to see if there is anything new on the medical front that you could then expand on your article, or rather, write something new. Essentially what you want to do is explore different ideas, and you can get some great ideas from the old articles that you wrote. It also gives you an opportunity to review old work and see if you made mistakes in grammar, writing, or technical errors. Even if you don't find any technical errors in your writing you can still come up with new ideas based on your old articles. Reading through magazines is suggested for coming up with articles to write for a particular magazine. If you have a copy of Writers Market, you will see that a lot of magazines recommend you browse through older issues so that you can see what they have published in the past. The same is true if you are writing for your won blogging site. If you write for yourself you have the benefit of writing whatever you want on your own site. However browsing through old blog posts can be helpful in determining what of your writing is being read by people who follow your blog if you write a lot of political posts, then something that is non-political might not be met with the same enthusiasm as something political. That doesn't mean that you need to stick with one genre, but you do want to write what other people want to read, so pay attention to your readers as they will be your best indicator of what you should be writing. Knowing your readers can help you figure out what to write next, and if you know what to write next then you can avoid writers block. Just like brainstorming or writing exercises can help, so can reviewing your older writing to see how you are being received by readers. There are a lot of great reasons why you should review your old articles, beyond overcoming writers block. Reviewing old articles can help you become a better writer, and after all isn't that what we all strive for? Perfecting our craft, by practicing, by figuring out our strengths and improving upon them, and understanding our weaknesses so that we can overcome them is what most authors are about. You want to be the best you can, and in order to do that you have to learn from past mistakes which is why reading through old articles can really help you. Essentially the main reason you might begin to look at some of your old articles is to gain new insight and new ideas for future articles, but you can clearly see that by reading them you will gain so much more. You can learn from mistakes made, you can come up with new ideas, and you can become a better writer by reviewing those old articles. buy thesis
