“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.”1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) Scripture tells us that everyone has God-given gifts and talents. God granted us talents and abilities so we can serve others, as well as give part of ourselves back to Him. Knowing this, many adults are still looking for their God-given talent. For so many of us, the problem isn’t that we don’t have one; it’s that we are trying too hard to find it. People think that a God-given talent must be some huge and complicated thing that they have to search for, but it’s really much simpler than that. . Others discovered theirs already, but don’t know how to cultivate and practice them right to give glory to the Lord. For those people who are in the process of their ‘talent search’, they should of course seek for God’s help through prayer. Ask God to help you see yourself through His eyes. Another important thing to remember is to be open to possibilities. Think about what you really enjoy doing: painting, drawing, dancing, singing, listening to, helping others or even cleaning, though may not sound like talents, but these all are. If you enjoy it, feel good about it, good at it, and can use it to help others, then it’s no doubt a God-given talent. Once you discover your God-given talents, gifts or skills— whatever you want to call them— find ways to use them to serve God and do God's work. Look for a field or place where you can broaden your skills and be of help and inspiration to others.
