Heights aren’t my specialty, I’m the first person to admit that work at height projects fill me with fear. So my admiration goes out to anyone that works in the rope access industry and provides a range of services for clients that need tasks performing at dizzying heights. I can just about clean the ground floor windows of our home using a stepladder, put me in charge of a Rope Access project and I’d be a blubbering wreck. Rope Access experts are used to coping with difficult scenarios and to them, work at height holds no fear. You have to admire access teams, not everybody could perform challenging duties whilst dangling hundreds of feet off the ground; I couldn’t for one. The mere mention of Rope Access starts my knees knocking and brings me out in a cold sweat. Rope Access professionals are trained to industry standards, they have to be given the nature of the work they perform. The services provided by work at height specialists can be extremely varied and they are asked to put their rope access skills to the test in a host of challenging environments. Rope Access professionals conduct structural building inspections they can be contacted when building repairs are required or windows need cleaning on unusually tall structures. Rope Access is often used when the exterior of buildings require a fresh lick of paint or when signs and banners have to be installed. Any work at height task can be performed in total safety by a trained operative that is well versed at access procedures. Another way in which Rope Access can be critical out on site is in an emergency situation. If people are lying in perilous positions and they need extracting as soon as possible to receive medical attention Rope Access can help to save lives. Medical teams and rescue workers often undergo training in rope access procedures and this means they can work at height without endangering their lives or the lives of others. Rope Access training ensures that personnel know how to operate access equipment safely and it’s delivered by knowledgeable instructors that work in this specialist industry.
