Jaisalmer is a town situated in the state of Rajasthan in India. It was formerly known as Jaisalmer state. It is nicknamed as the “Golden City”. It is situated at a distance of 575 kilometers from the capital of the state, Jaipur. It lies under the administrative headquarters of the Jaisalmer district. This town is placed on the heart of the Thar Desert. It has a population of only 78000. This town is essentially one of great historical significance. There are several monuments and buildings in this town that depict the ancient historical architecture. Still now several houses in Jaisalmer are made in the old fashioned medieval Indian style. Thus, this city attracts a lot of national and international tourists who visit this place to capture the remote essence. Due to high value of tourism, several hotels have recently developed in this place. There are several hotels of different budget ranges in this town.
