It is important to make sure that the legal policy is friendly to the FDI inflows and if it is possible to remove any barriers. Such conditions as infrastructure and human capital, skills and others should be stimulated in order to make the place favorable for investments. The location has to understand how to promote new investment in a proactive way. Foreign direct investment strategy of many countries depend on traditional characteristics of FDI attraction. Such as political stability, free business environment, low cost of doing business, low level of taxes, cheap labor. These characteristics are very important. However, these points do not make the FDI strategy unique and the country does not stand out among its competitors. The competition for FDI inflows is fierce and a country must understand and acknowledge the importance of defining the new direction to make the country winning and inviting for trade and investments. Nowadays other characteristics are becoming more and more important for a country to be at a good level of competitiveness for FDI attraction. Science, higher education and innovation are key factors. But they should be easily marked by the audience. Foreign direct investment strategy has to incorporate the country brand that bears the identity of a country, its image and perceptions in the eyes of visitors. All the competitive advantages of a country should be visible for the international community. Messages should be clearly communicated by a country and be noticeable for the target market audience. Country’s image plays a key role in the foreign direct investment strategy implementation because that it why the country can be chosen by potential investors among all the competitors.
