Pondicherry which is now officially known as Puducherry is the capital city of the Union Territory of Puducherry in India. It has a beautiful climate and nice locations which fascinate tourists. It is situated at a distance of about 162 kilometers from Chennai. It lies on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal and hence has some of the great beaches around this place. There are vast stretches of unspoiled beaches and backwaters here that are pleasantly explored by the tourists. This city is commonly referred to as ‘Pondy’. Due to the French influence in this city, there is much historical French architecture here that attracts the tourist. There are many nice hotels and accommodations here for the tourists.
