Telugu News : Venkaiah Naidu Fires On Augusta Scam ! Hello Andhra

Government
Telugu News: Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu had responded again seriously about the Augusta helicopter purchases scam today. He warned that this scam needs to exposed completely and in no way will the Govt be allowed to neglect this. He said BJP will not take this easy and scam will be mentioned seriously in the Parliament.

He demanded for SIT enquiry as BJP doesn't believe in CBI, which is running under the guidance of the Central Government. He stated that Govt is trying to save the culprits, but BJP will not leave them and build up pressure in this regard.

He predicted elections would come after the Parliament meets. He suggested debt waiver is not the permanent solution, but agriculture needs to be done in a profitable means as per the Swaminathan committee recommendations. He opined there are favourable conditions for BJP in the country.

Rejecting a CBI probe into the Rs 3600-crore VVIP chopper deal, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M Venkaiah Naidu said that the investigation should be held either under the supervision of the Supreme Court or the Parliamentary Committee, and added that the Congress Party is notoriously known for misusing the CBI.

'BJP demands setting up of a SIT to investigate into serious charges about payments made in AugustaWestland VVIP chopper purchase. The probe should be either under the supervision of the Supreme Court or the Parliamentary Committee, because the Congress party is notoriously known for misusing CBI,' Naidu told media here.

'That's why the BJP is not expectable to this suggestion of CBI inquiry. Because the CBI has no credibility and the government intention is also doubtful, because this issue was raised in 2011 in the Parliament and also a letter was written to the Defence Minister, in spite of that the government did not act so far,' he added.

He further said that the opposition party would corner the governmnet on this issue in Parliament. Earlier echoing the similar sentiment, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said: 'Ordering a mere CBI inquiry is not enough. It must be monitored. In the 2G spectrum case, CBI probe was ordered in 2009 but the agency did nothing for 15 months.

It was only when the Supreme Court started monitoring the case suo motu that things started moving. He said the probe into the issue should be monitored otherwise the government will try to delay it. Defence Minister A K Antony had earlier said that the CB) has been asked to give an early report on its probe into alleged helicopter deal.

Antony said corruption will not be tolerated in defence deal, and added that the government will take strict action against the guilty. The arrest of Italian company chief in Milan prompted the government in India to order a CBI probe. Finmeccanica CEO Giuseppe Orsi, who was arrested on Tuesday in Rome, had been under investigation for months and had denied any wrongdoing in the deal for the sale of 12 Augusta Westland helicopters to India in 2010.

The said contract was signed in February 2010 for the purchase of 12 helicopters. In view of media reports, the Ministry of Defence through the Ministry of External Affairs had sought information from the Governments of Italy and UK No specific inputs were, however, received substantiating the allegations. The contract signed with M/s. Augusta Westland includes specific contractual provisions against bribery and the use of undue influence as well as an Integrity Pact.
