With web designing, company procedures vary greatly across the industry. It is not uncommon for one web design company to "poo poo" another's work and techniques. Primarily because most consumers are completely uneducated in this relatively new marketplace. But truth be told, on a whole, there is really no good or bad way to build a website, no matter what any web design company might tell you. Usually, it is a simply matter of preference. Some of the most hotly debated topics with any professional web design company are the format of your website, the platform for content management, the actual layout and presentation and internet marketing techniques, primarily search engine optimization. Again as tempting as it is to declare a correct solution for any of these, it usually boils down to preference unless your web design company has substantial statistics to support their case. Regardless, there are important things to consider when paying for any website design service or working with any web design firms. Web Design Format For now, the war is between flash and HTML. What is good about flash is that it is often more eye-catching. Flash websites lend themselves better to application development. A flash site can often operate fluidly like software. HTML sites can also work like software, but flash just looks cooler with its high end transitions and animations. HTML is usually preferred by business or corporate websites by most web design companies. Also most social media and monetized websites are built with HTML. This type of web design allows for expansion with content. The text content in HTML websites is also better indexed by search engines, though there have been great strides forward with flash indexing. Hybrid flash/HTML sites have the best of both worlds. They have the eye-candy of flash and the organization and functionality of HTML. Website CMS Platform A website is like a stage that is built to feature content. Some websites are built and stay the same throughout their existence. Many other websites have content that changes frequently. These sites need some sort of user-friendly content management system in order to easily update that material on the website. There are many ways to do so like custom php/mysql structures, Ruby on Rails or other open source content management systems. These methods, as all coding like, java, asp, XML, etc are extremely controversial from one web design company to the next. No one can agree which is the best to pursue. The determining factors should be functionality and anticipated growth. Basically if your prospective web designer has built websites previously that perform well and has confidence that they can continue to grow with your venture as it evolves, how the web development is accomplished is essentially irrelevant. Website Layout With any website design company, there are some foregone standards and conclusions regarding web design layout, like top positioning and placing your most important content in the upper left corner. But successful websites come in all shapes and sizes. The best way to determine your layout structure is to evaluate your competitors. Whatever the majority of them do, is probably going to work well for you. It is however a good idea, at least for the near future, to cater to the least common denominator in monitors, 1024 x 768 resolution. This area should house your main content. Web Designing Company
