Sometimes as you age or if you have had a history of bad dental care, dentures may be a great option to give you a more comfortable lifestyle. There are two types that you can choose from, depending on what your particular needs is and how many teeth you still have in your mouth and how many need to be replaced. These are complete and partial. The first option that you have is a complete set. These can be either conventional or immediate. These are referred to as immediate and are put in right in after the original teeth have been taken out while your gums are healing. However, because the gums do shrink some after the teeth have been removed, they will need to be adjusted so that they fit properly. The other type are partial dentures. These are usually a bridge that replaces missing teeth when all the teeth are not being removed. These are attached to a plastic frame that keeps the set in place. The remaining teeth are not pulled and the bridge is put around them so that they look as natural as possible. These bridges fill the empty spaces permanently and keep the remaining teeth from moving. There are ways around dentures, however. An alternative to dentures is dental implants. These are often used to help bridges stay in place so that an entire set of dentures is not needed. These do usually cost more, but they do look more like the real thing. Check with your dentist to see if you may be a good candidate for one of these. If you are considered to be a good candidate for the implants, check with your insurance company to see if they cover any part of them, because some plans do. If not, see if your dentist offers a financing option so that you can get the look you want at a price you can afford and still look your best. Because sometimes missing teeth happen by no fault of your own, there is no reason why you should have to suffer from the look and problems that come with it.
