There are more than two hundred countries in the world. Every country, big or small, has its own set of languages, culture, landscape, weather conditions, races, currency, monuments, dances, games, so on and so forth. But there is only one thing that truly defines a country, for it is a blissful concoction of all of the above and that is it’s Traditional Food! They say if you want to explore a country, explore the kitchens of its inhabitants. This statement has stood the test of time. No matter how modern the world might get, people’s affection to their Traditional food never changes. Remember, how you crave for ‘Dal & Rice’ or ‘Idli & chutney’ on your foreign trip? I believe that this inborn affinity to the Traditional food is because it reminds us of our soil, our mind relates all our memories to these diverse flavours. That being said, these days given our hectic and fast paced life most of us are not able to give the commitment that is needed to prepare those elaborate traditional Indian dishes our mothers and aunts and grannies use to put together. It’s a pity though; but the good news is that there are heaps of Indian Restaurants serving mouth watering variety of exquisite traditional Indian delicacies. Now, serving to a population with such eclectic taste buds is not a joke. That is why there are numerous types of Indian Restaurants one would find in any city of this country and across the world (Indian cuisine being one of the most renowned ones). These restaurants differ in formats and sizes but they have one common factor joining them by the hip; Traditional Indian food. So if you are in the mood to have some north Indian food with a hint of adventure, ride your way to the nearest dhaba. There you will be served authentic north Indian dal, paranthas, Rajma, lassi etc. etc. Owing to their craze, many a renowned restaurateurs have established Dhaba themed restaurants which give you the same ambience of a Dhaba but also take care of hygiene and are located within easy reaches. Another very famous Indian Restaurant type is the Mughlai restaurants. These restaurants serve dishes that trace back to the medieval muslim and Islamic communities and their influence on India. Owing to their Islamic origin, most of the dishes served in such restaurants are non vegetarian and are made with chicken, mutton, beef or lamb. Another differentiator to these recipes are high proportions of spices and a unique combination of dry fruits. So whether you are craving for Biryani or Keema or some Murg Mussalam, these restaurants are your pit stop! In the tally of the most prominent restaurant types in India, one can surely not overlook the Jain Restaurants or Pure vegetarian restaurants which serve simple home cooked traditional food from different parts of the country like Gujrat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu to name a few. These restaurants are mostly serve dishes that are easy on the pocket and light on the stomach. Many of them serve traditional Indian thalis which are an assortment of Indian dishes served with papad, curd, chutney and sweets. Whatever your preferences might be, there is no place like home and there is definitely nothing quite like the Traditional cuisine that reminds you of your roots.
