As its own contribution to making the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament a truly exciting experience for Nigerian fans, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc flagged off a novel football entertainment programme on television titled “AFCON Highlights”. The AFCON Highlights, which is anchored by the duo of ace football presenters/analysts - Deji Omotoyinbo and Deji Tinubu - follows the progress of the 16 African teams participating in the competition, fact files of matches and the profile of players of the participating countries. It captures for fans and others, high points of matches, including reviews, predictions and other aspects of the continental showpiece that are of tremendous interest to football fans. The show, which started on January 23, 2013 runs on Silverbird Television from 9:55pm daily and will be on air all through the 21 days that the tournament would last. FCMB Group Head Marketing and Communications, Mr. Ikechukwu Kalu, said the programme enables FCMB customers and other football lovers connect with their passion in an exciting and pleasurable way. “You get to enjoy the highpoints of the matches and get a chance to win great prizes through the daily quiz. Its double benefits to all lovers of the beautiful game of football" he explained. At the end of each segment questions relating to AFCON 2013 and previous editions of the tournament are posed to viewers, who are expected to post their answers on the FCMB Facebook (fcmbmybank) and Twitter (myfcmb) pages. Two winners emerge every day and each receives a cash reward. So far, 16 winners have emerged from the quiz contest. Among them are Tunde Akeredolu, Chuba Nwaigwe, Adedapo Afolabi, Lamidi Emmanuel, Timmy Daniel Oluwole, Iyantan John, Tolulope Desmond and Moneke Favour. Others are Raji Olatunbosun, Chigozie Okafor, Segun Adeoti, Akinmusire Maselinah, Onyinyechi Ndukwe, Sani Ibrahim Bello, Samuel Shodiya and Adepoju Adebayo. The winners have expressed delight for the opportunity afforded them by the FCMB gesture.
