Inconel is a very useful alloy for engineering purposes like general, structural and mechanical. It is an alloy constitutes of gamma phase Iron content, nickel and chromium. Inconel is a very special alloy which is used for engineering services which are demanded at very extreme temperatures. Aluminum and steel could also not withstand its power of any pressure and temperature bearing capability. Its products like sheets and bars are very strong and can go for any amount of weight and any limit of pressure and are hence used in very special areas like industries dealing with gas turbines in their blade manufacturing, in production of turbo chargers, high pressure bearing vessels, submersibles, exhaust systems, in almost all such areas which perform its task at very high temperatures. Machining of Inconel is very hard and to draw sheets and bars from it we have to go for this procedure. Machining of this alloy is very difficult and is performed tactically, by first deforming its original shape and then making small cuts so as to make the sheets and bars uniform. Laser operations are also inculcated these days to make these procedures of machining easy. Products of Inconel like 718 Sheets is made from Inconel alloy named Inconel 718 which is a super alloy with high content of nickel. These alloy products are used for cryogenic purposes, for services to be performed at 1200 degree Fahrenheit. Its machining and welding is performed in Precipitation hardened welding condition. By these alloy we can get 718 bars, plates, sheets and welding products. 718 Sheet have great properties like no creep ruptures, fatigue and tensile which satisfy mechanical engineering purposes , welding features like resistant to age cracking and are highly resistant to oxidizing medium. These sheets found their usage in the engine parts of turbines of gases, in the components of rocket motors used in liquid fuel, in fasteners component of springs and in cryogenic tanks. These sheets can be annealed up to 0.296 lb/in3 and their melting point is 2410-2540 degrees Fahrenheit. 625 Sheet are manufactured from the alloy of Inconel and that is Inconel 625, which has non magnetic properties, highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion and it contains nickel as its major element. It has been featured with high strength and robustness with cryogenic temperature range i.e. 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. It also contains materials like columbium and molybdenum which reflects in its high temperature capability features. It has super fatigue feature, resistant to stress corrosion. Products of this alloy are basically used in making heat shields, duct engines of gas turbines, in liners of combustion and in chemical plan hardware. Workability of 625 Sheets may include hot working, cold forming and controlling. Hot working basically includes the capability of these sheets to withstand high temperatures like 2100 degree Fahrenheit, but with avoiding any frictional reason for heat up. Cold forming means these sheets can be formed cold by various standard procedures and as it becomes very stiff from this method you can again anneal down to its normal state. These sheets can be used in low speed cutting, tools of rigid structures etc.
