A mystic once wrote "Holly Mother India, "I am blessed, my feet have trod thy sod". So revered was India. Today we heard of a gang rape in broad daylight on a bus in India. In the city of Calcutta people still live and die on the streets. When Mother Theresa was honored in India, they said in Calcutta alone they could use a thousand more just like her. Such is the poverty of India. Today, years later India begins to shows progress. The poor, however, are still victims of violence, unemployment, hunger, sickness. We, the friends of India, are told to give hope to the suffering. How can we offer this miracle of hope? Continuous growth of population chokes every effort.
