Goa is all about beaches. It's the ultimate destination for the water lovers. The most popular beaches dot the 7 km line from Sinquerim through Calangute and Baga in the north, and a 25 km stretch in the south comprising Velsao, Uttorda, Colva, Majorda, Fatrade, Benaulim, Mobor and Cavellosim. There are smaller beaches like Chapora, Vagator, and Anjuna in the north, Dona Paula in the central part, Palolem in the south. Arambol beach: Arambol beach takes a drive of 50 km from Panaji. It is a secluded enough beach and visitors perhaps like it that way. However it is very popular among those who know its presence and location. There are various freshwater lakes and sulphur springs nearby. Anjuna beach: Drive 8 km from Mapusa to reach this exotic beach in Goa. Almost every day visitors witness trance parties in this beach and the turquoise blue waters are just too tempting to resist. The surrounding scenery is just magical and more so when you relish the exceptional sea food. Baga beach: 10 km from Mapusa it's an extension of Calangute sands. It presents the best nightlife in Goa and the best watersports facilities. The huge waves striking against the daunting rocks is a treat to watch and one can sit here all day mesmerized. Calangute beach: This beach is 16 km from the capital city of the state. It has been hailed as the "Queen of beaches' and its popularity is ever rising. It is the most lively and shopper friendly beach in Goa. The lines of coconut and palm trees on the long coastline along with the soft breeze have a hypnotic effect on the viewer. Majorda beach: This beach has the most number of hotels and resorts. It is in the Salcete district and provides 25 km of white sandy stretches lined by shady trees.
