It is pronounced in nepal as OM MANI PADME HUM ! and in Tibet Aum-Ma-ni-Pay-may-hung!! Whose simple translation is Om! The Jewel in the Heart of the Lotus! Hum !! Om: here Om is all sound and silence throught time, the roar of eternity and also great stillness of pure being. It invokes the all that is otherwise inexpressible. Mani: the mani is the 'admantine diamond' of the void, the primordial pure and indestructible essence of existence beyond all matter or even anti matter, all phenomenon, all change and all becoming Padme: It means in the Lotus- is the world of phenomenon, samsara, unfolding with spiritual progresses to reveal beneath the level of delusion, the mani jewel of Nirvana that lies not apart from daily life but at it's heart. Hum: hum has no literal meaning and has various interpretations. It means the declaration of Beings, of Is-ness symbolised by the buddhas gesture of touching the earth at the moment of Enlightenment. It is !, It Exists !!
