A Destination for History Buffs Although Faro is generally considered to be the home of superior museums, Albufeira can stand on its own, with some excellent repositories of intriguing artifacts. The Museu Municipal de Arqueologia (Archeology Museum), for example, is an excellent reason to bring the kids from Faro to Albufeira. The museum houses exhibits, from local prehistory, to the Roman period, to the modern times. Every artefact on display is accompanied with detailed and enlightening background information. There's also the Museu de Arte Oriental (Museum of Oriental Art), which houses many unique items you won't find elsewhere, mainly bequeathed from private collectors.
