Albufeira is well placed for many attractions, and as you head from Faro Airport to Albufeira you’ll probably be thinking of going to a water park as soon as possible – especially if you have children in tow. There are two main water parks nearby that are easy to reach. We’ve got the lowdown on each one so you can make the decision on which one you will head to first. Slide and Splash This first water park is very easy to reach if you have taken the shuttle transfer from Faro Airport to Albufeira before picking up a local hire car. Even if you don't have your own transport you can get the bus from your accommodation to the park if you wish. What can you expect to see when you get inside? Well, there are plenty of water rides to look forward to, of course, including the famous Kamikaze, the regular slides and the Black Hole. Since the park was opened in 1986, it has reputedly improved every year. You should expect to spend an entire day here, so you can try out all the different water rides and spend some time relaxing on the grassed areas in between as well. One of the highlights is undoubtedly the rapid river ride, which takes you along a simulated river and down the rapids in a huge tyre. You won’t want to miss it! Aqualand The second water park option you have to consider once you've arrived from Faro Airport to Albufeira is Aqualand. This is arguably even better known than the previous water park mentioned above – bearing in mind this also makes it busier. It opens for the summer season and you can look forward to trying out all manner of different rides. For example if you love the big and dramatic rides, why not try the Crazy Leap? This really is fast and furious and definitely not for the faint of heart. For a more sedate ride – but no less fun for that – you should have a go at the Rapids. Here you get to sit in an inflatable tyre and head from pool to pool by negotiating your way down a series of rapids. Alternatively why not try the Anaconda, a collection of water slides that are ready for everyone to enjoy. In fact, why not try them all? As you can see it doesn’t matter which water park you go to, you will have a ball at either of them. In fact most people who make the journey from Faro Airport to Albufeira to stay for a week or so usually visit both parks and who can blame them? With so many delightful areas to enjoy and lots of rides to get stuck into, it makes sense to make the most of both parks. Children will love them and parents get to relax and really have a holiday without having to worry about entertaining the kids. Lukas Johannes is a driver for Shuttle Direct.
