Langkawi is an island found nineteen miles from the north western shores of Peninsular Malaysia; it belongs to a grouping of islands found along this coast line. The capital city of this island is known as Kuah, this town has a population of twelve, 000 folk. The island has an overall population of 45,000; it is not extraordinarily populated for its size. It was once called a knacksered island and renowned for fishing, now it's famous for its wonderful beaches and bright skies; accommodations are spread out all over the island for the approximate 2,000,000 holiday makers that visit the island annually. From the farthest beach it'll only take forty minutes to get to Langkawi global airport; its only twenty minutes from the islands capital Kuah to the air port. Air East Asia and Firefly flying offers low costing domestic flights from Malaysian airports to Langkawi which lasts about forty minutes and flight from Penang to Langkawi which last approximately twenty minutes, these islands are near Kuala Lumpur. Tiger Airways and Silk Air offers global flights from Singapore to Langkawi, flying time is routinely an hour. There aren't any straight through flights from any towns in the US or Canada from or to Langkawi; however there are seasonal and chartered flights from Europe and Japan to Langkawi. Another strategy of traveling from and to Langkawi is by the employment of the ferry service. The ferries depart from the primary land from Kuala Perlis and Kuala Kedah to the ferry terminal in Langkawi this takes about forty five to ninety minutes. There are a large amount of beaches in Langkawi but the most well-liked ones are Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah ; however these beaches have plenty of activities going on because almost all of the hostels and trattorias are found on them so they're not awfully quiet ; Datai Bay, Burau Bay and Pantai Rhu are the quieter beaches. Langkawi has 1 or 2 two to three star hostels in the capital, three to five star hostels are back toward the beaches. The hostels in the capital are quieter and less expensive, but the ones on the beach offer more pursuits like pools and bars.
