Limestone Splitting Tools

Business
Limestone is a natural sedimentary rock that is created as a result of calcite mineral deposits or accumulations of seashells with calcium carbonate. Pure limestone is a solid white color, but limestone can include other colors and textures when impurities such as clay, sand and iron are deposited as well. Limestone is often used to make tiles and in landscaping, where it might be used to create borders and walkways. In order to use limestone for building projects, large pieces of limestone need to be split into smaller, more manageable pieces. There are several tools to make limestone splitting easy. Rock Hammers Rock hammers are often used to split limestone. They are sometimes preferred over other hand tools for splitting limestone because you can split limestone with one tool, instead of needing two or more tools to complete the task. Rock hammers consist of a long handle with a wedge on the end where you would normally find the blunt, round end. To split limestone, you simply hit the wedge against the sandstone, and it will break apart. You may need to hit the stone several times in different places to achieve a split, especially in larger pieces of limestone. There are single-edge and double-edge rock hammers available. A double-edged rock hammer has the advantage of two wedges, sometimes of different sizes, to make limestone splitting even easier. Wedges and Shims A series of wedges and shims are used by masonry workers to split many kinds of stone, from granite to limestone. You place the pointed edge of the wedge against the rock where you want to create the split. Then you hit the opposite end of the wedge with a hammer to create enough force to drive the wedge into the limestone. Once you have made a small split, you can continue to drive the wedge, or dislodge and place it in a new location to begin splitting from a different angle. Shims work exactly the same way, but they are often used in conjunction with wedges. Once you split the rock, you can keep the wedge in place, work a shim into another part of the crack and then drive it in to split the limestone in two. Hydraulic Splitters Hydraulic splitters are large stone-splitting machines that are commonly used in stone quarries that prepare stone for sale to construction companies. The object of splitting limestone is to break a large piece of stone into larger, workable pieces. Hydraulic splitters can split stones that weigh a ton or more into much smaller pieces. These splitters consist of a series of wedges placed in a row. The stone is placed under the wedges, then hydraulic pressure is used to push on the stone until the wedges crack the surface and split the limestone into pieces. Such large Quarrying & Processing Equipment makes it even more difficult to predict the size and number of pieces that will be created as a result of splitting. In a word, as a well-known business E-platform of promoting stone industry, we are in possession of a powerful technology group and high-efficiency operations management system.
