Engineering is one of the most popular courses amongst the youth these days. With wide variety of options available for master’s and remunerative careers, admission to one of the engineering colleges can also be a challenging task.
Gone are the days when a few hundred thousand students used to do engineering. engineering college admissionshave only become complicated over time and with the number of colleges increasing multifold, it has resulted in being both a boon and a bane for students. While on one hand, options galore for students, on the other, it is hard to sift through the grain from the chaff.
Delhi is one such education hub where getting an admission into one of the good colleges is considered to be prestigious. engineering college in Delhi NCR region have also mushroomed thanks to the superb quality of education in the city. The city is home to a few reputed government universities and over time, various private colleges offering education have gained importance because of superior infrastructure and good placement track record. With IT hubs such as Gurgaon and Noida in the vicinity, the number of job options for students who successfully complete engineering are tremendous. Also, a number of industrial hubs like Manesar are located in the vicinity, making it attractive for mechanical engineers. With government jobs back in the reckoning and offering better remuneration than private sector in some cases, students also have the option to do unconventional courses within engineering for landing up a job in one of the government departments. Hence, only sky is the limit for students who are pursuing engineering from Delhi and NCR.
The value of engineering colleges is evident with the number of career options it throws up for students post the completion of the course. A student can pursue MS from abroad whereas other alternatives like an M Tech from various reputed universities within the country also exist.
Students can also look at pursuing management education after doing engineering. This has become one of the most sought after options as students with dual degrees are touted to be good managers and often land up with plum offers. Also, a number of students opt to teach after completing engineering education as not only can they pursue their passion but they also get good salaries as a professor at the university. Besides these, they get usual perks offered to government employees.
Even though the costs associated with pursuing an engineering course have shot up over the last few years, looking at the plethora of options it throws up for students, it makes sense to invest in engineering education. Several universities also offer scholarships to meritorious students or to a particular category of students depending on the need. It is suggested that one should do a thorough research as often lack of information forces students to drop the idea of pursuing engineering due to high costs. Besides scholarships for meritorious students, one can also explore other options like educational loans for pursuing their dream career.
