How to choose Chinese watch suppliers? Key words: watch, watches supplier, watch manufacturer, choose supplier Many watch manufacturers and distributors realized that seek suppliers form China it’s a very wise choice, but there are thousands of suppliers, how to choose the best suite supplier for us? As a watch manufacturer we well know the situation of Chinese watch industry, and we discussed this with different customers. We think, the following suggestion will be useful for you to analyse a supplier. 1. Choose the best suit supplier not the biggest. Both very famous and very small companies are not good choice. Some famous companies also have they own famous brand in China, the local market is their major business and profit source, so regarding to the produce arrangement, quality, delivery time, they must priority process their own brand, that why their delivery time is 6 months or even more than one year. And because never lack orders and very busy, they maybe will not reply your emails in time, even not polite enough. And you should not to seek some factories which with the strongest technology, also because they never lack the orders, and they will not compromise in the price. What more, some of this kind factories, did not have they own brand, but contracted by international brand, they also almost have no more production capacity. But any way, they quality, stability is better than others, and with the lower risk of bankruptcy and cheat. For very small companies, it’s easy to close, and their quality not good enough and not stability for repeat orders. But for avoid close, even an order with very very thin profit that most of factories will not accept, they will accept. And they have not big factory rental payment, staffs salary, operating cost, they also can accept lower price. And for the delivery time, the whole factory can rush for your order if need, this is impossible for a big factory. But these factories have much higher risk of bankruptcy and cheat. So, the medium-sized and small enterprises with biggest advantage on the whole: good and stable quality, good price, prompt reply, reasonable delivery time, and the have the power to solve difficultness faced. 2. Do not choose the supplier with the lowest price. China occupied a nonnegligible percent of watches exporting, it’s mainly due to the lower cost on the labor and materials. However, the price of the steel is rising almost every year, the price of commodities and salary in China are also rising every year, so the whole cost for each piece of watch is rising accordingly. Not like Swiss, American, France, Italy etc, they have worldwide famous brands and strong R&D ability, what’s the Chinese OEM watch manufacturers earned is the thin laborious labor cost, maybe you also will feel regret in some day for you are the very important factor to indirect the birthed sweatshops in China if you countered offer too much today. It’s a truth in the world that the quality is in proportion to price, it’s always a converse proposition that the rigorous quality with also rigorous price. The common situation is not the supplier can not reach your quality demand, but you gave a too low price. If most of the suppliers quoted you a similar price, but only one quoted you much lower, there won’t be other reasons: worse quality, cheater or others. Our suggestion is, don’t counter offer too much if the price is in your budgetary price, or don’t too rigorous if the quality is acceptable though not perfect. 3. Choose a medium-scale supplier if your product is complex. Big factories full of orders, they maybe reject this order to avoid risk, or quote very high. Small factories can not manufacture it. The most effective thing is not policy & system, money, power in China sometimes, the key point is relationship. Since without obvious competition with famous manufacturers, the medium-scale suppliers always keep good relationship with both big and small manufacturers, the factory with strong technology will help them to finish the complex products, this help showed the friendship to the medium-scale manufacturer, though he did not like to accept this order very much. 4. Choose the supplier from the watch industry gather place. Like Pear River Delta( Shenzhen, Dongguan etc.), Yangtze River Delta, Tianjin and so on. Because there are many watch and watch parts manufacturers, it’s more reliable to the quality and delivery time, the price also will be better because of many suppliers. 5. Choose the suppliers which participated fairs and with website. Basel fair, Dubai fair, Hong Kong fair etc. the whole cost is not too low, the exhibitors generally are not too weak. All of the websites must put on records in the government department, and the companies with website will be noted by more companies and persons, it’s less possible to be a cheater company. And without website, it seems they have not pay attention to the e-business. However, there are also especial situation, some large-scale factories 100% for OEM order, and full of orders, they have not and no need website. 6. Do not despise the companies only with a few or very old product’s photos on their websites. Because in China, you published your new designs after hard work, though photos with watermark, it will be copied by other companies at once. So, some companies do not like to publish many new designs on their website. The purpose of their website is to publish the contact information and show what kind of products (such as material, shape, function etc) they can manufacture. 7. Do not worry about the companies arrange younger staffs to receive and service you. The older staffs with abundant experience but can not speak English, and mainly in charge of producing or quality, while the younger staffs mainly work in the sales or design department because they are good at English and full of passion, it very common in many industries in China. 8. Please understand the factories which did not agree you to visit the assembly line. As you know, some worldwide famous brands have suppliers in China, but the suppliers signed confidentiality agreement with them. Or there are some products very similar to the famous brand’s products, or there are some new products specially for certain customer, it not convenient to visit.
