A computer mouse is like a television remote. You really do not think about it until it doesn't work. Then you are in real trouble. To me there is nothing more frustrating than having problems with my computer mouse. The only exception to that might be if you get a virus in your computer and it slows way down or even stops working altogether. I also know many people who prefer to continue to use their mouse even with a laptop and this is easy to set up. Your mouse will operate better if you have it on a flat surface and use a mouse pad. However, it will also work directly on a desk or any flat surface. Your mouse will get dirty and some are easier to clean than others. A mechanical ball mouse is generally easy to clean. You take the back off of the mouse and clean the mouse ball if it gets dirty. You can buy a mouse you plug in. With this you would use a docking station similar to what you use for an iPod. With this kind of mouse its wireless and does not plug into your computer. Some people like the flexibility of a wireless mouse. How you use your mouse is important as well. You don't need to grip it real hard as it will move around very easily. You're better off to just sit back in your chair and relax and let the mouse do all the hard work. Depending on the age of your mouse if you are having problems you may just want to replace it. These are not real expensive and the hassles that you avoid make it worth keeping this important computer component updated on a regular basis.
