There is a plethora on the phases of bitterness, and it would take us forever to discuss all of them. Bitterness is like poison that when induced in our very system, turns the meekest of man into a dark malignant soul. It’s like a strange yet powerful phenomenon, invading someone’s persona, and brands it as its own. To break away from the shackles of bitterness is as hard as going through the very reason why you arrived in such a state. As human beings, we go through a lot of life’s miseries, which just like metal, we are continued to be tested of our limits. So it is not a surprise when people react negatively on the issues at hand, besides they are just humans. In order to understand it more, here are some of the popular reasons why people succumb from the wrath of bitterness. Wounded Ego Egos can be easily bruised especially for people who don’t have anything else but that. As a way of defense, people will sort to bitterness and cynicism. Then and there you’ll be hearing nothing but negative feedbacks from that person, a wounded ego may take too long to be mended. They will fish for compliments, but not reciprocate those compliments. Dealing with people undergoing this kind of situation requires a long string of patience. Broken Relationships The most common and the most popular reason of all the bitterness in the world would be this one. Contrary to usual belief, love can lead to a lot of unhappy endings. Boyfriends and girlfriends separate, marriages fall apart. It’s part of the reality of life, but still even if we are well aware of the dangers and risks of falling in and out of love, we still can’t help but be irrational when confronted with problems. I’ve dealt with a couple of friends with the same dilemma, my smartphone’s inbox was full of bitter and emotional messages from them. And I got tired of always reminding them of their life’s worth. Losing a loved one This one is more of a default. Bitterness can easily build with longing as a jumpstart. Imagine having invested emotional attachments with a person and cutting it in an instant. Here is where the importance of a closure comes in. Like for example having lost someone from a plane crash and never seeing the body can really be bothering, as compared to seeing his dead body in front of you. It’s not like a latest gadget that when you lose it, it’s forever erased from your mind. The dead body is the starting point of your moving forward. It’s what makes you realize that it’s over, and that he’s gone. I think it is safe to say that everyone experiences bitterness no matter how positive the person is. It can make or break you. It can make you a stronger person or consume you to the bones. Just remember that you should be guided by your sanity, and try to be more rational in dire times.
