The legendary group of Latin rock and percussion started out way back in the 1960’s and has been a driving force in the music industry for years. The main protagonist Carlos Santana is considered to be one of the best guitar players of all time. After making their mark in late 60’s and early 70’s the group changed their musical directive to a jazzy overture. At this point of time due to mixed views many of the members disbanded leaving the chief run the show and turn it into the commercial success that they are famous for even today. For over two centuries (80’s and 90’s) they more or less ruled the charts with everyone wanting a piece of the pie. One couldn’t get enough of the records or cassettes that they were noted for. The group continued during the 90’s but there were other artists whose presence were noted like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Guns and Roses, boy bands like Boyzone, Back Street Boys, and many others. Of course for the hard core Santana fans, there was (still) nothing like revving up the music consoles to songs like Black Magic Woman, Soul Sacrifice, and many more. Zeroing on a couple of songs by the legend would be doing the group or individual an injustice anyhow! It has been proclaimed that in-fighting and personal issues made them stay away from the arc lights. But after a while Santana got back and how with the mammoth success in late 1999 with Supernatural. This automatically put the gossips to rest! With this album they won a considerable amount of Grammies in 2000. Guest stars made their presence felt in this compilation and it was considered the best seller release of the decade. The turn of the century saw Santana and Michael Jackson come together in a song called Whatever Happens from the album Invincible. Later on in the year 2002 Carlos decided to recreate the magic of Supernatural with Shaman by including guests to bring about a funky take to the notes. The group Payable on Death (POD) and Seal were some of the stars that contributed towards the success of the record. There are many songs from the compilation that are still played on radio stations like the Game of Love sung by Michelle Branch that eventually went on to win a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with vocals. To add to contemporary and adult genre style of music Santana compiled Why Don’t You and I with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and jazzed it up with a remixed version as well with the group The Calling. This was a winner already and stayed on the charts for a while. The group has been about after that with All that I Am with artists like Sean Paul, Steven Tyler, Seal and Joss Stone among others. Over the years there were more releases that are popular like For Flavia and Across the Grave and 2012 saw him bring out the instrumental record with a mixed tone. He has appeared on the popular American Idol in the year 2009 and mesmerized the crowds with his mass appeal. The genius of the man has certainly won him accolades!
