3) Use numbers when it is possible. Compare "How to Keep Gophers from Eating Your Vegetables" and "Three Idiot-proof Methods to Eradicate Gophers!" Do you see how the "three methods" phrase tells your reader exactly what to expect from your article and how it will benefit them to read it? 4) Create a sense of urgency. If your offer has a limited time, say so. Let the reader know he'd better read your article now before it is too late. If you don't have a limited time offer, you can still create urgency by inserting a phrase like, "now" or "right now" or "today." Let the reader know he'll benefit from reading your article right away. 5) Revise if necessary. Write your headline and let it sit for a while. Then go back and review it. Can you make it better, snappier, sharper? Write your headline first and then write your article. When the article is finished, go back and punch up the headline. Maybe it's perfect already.
