If you’ve had your eye on getting liposuction in a particular area of the body, then you may not have considered the possibility of combining the procedure with other surgeries to enhance your appearance. Though liposuction can create really striking changes in a person’s physique sometimes it just makes sense to go ahead and have one or more other procedures performed at the same time. Depending on your situation, a liposuction surgery may go well with a variety of other surgical procedures and once patients understand the reasoning behind having the extra work done alongside liposuction, they often see the value of just going ahead with it. But, if you haven’t considered the virtues of having several cosmetic procedures performed in one surgical session, you should learn more about why this option might appeal to you. Liposuction surgery can be geared at just about any part of the body you can imagine to create better lines and curves to the physique. It isn’t a weight loss surgery, contrary to what some patients think, but rather a procedure designed to enhance and sculpt the body features that already exist. Only about six pounds of fat can be removed during a typical lipo surgery so patients should generally be close to their ideal body weight before the procedure. Patients who are hoping to lose weight should start with a bariatric doctor who can advise them about the various weight loss options that are available today. Though liposuction isn’t an ideal procedure for weight loss, it is often used by bariatric patients in the final phase of weight loss to sculpt the body into ideal proportions. Indeed, when liposuction is used by bariatric patients to achieve an acceptable final result, patients often also have an arm lift, tummy tuck, or a body lift performed to get rid of the excess skin that is often left after profound weight loss. Combining these various surgeries into one procedure can cut down on the total cost as well as cut down on recovery time, as well. Not all patients who seek out liposuction have profound weight loss issues. Indeed, athletic patients may choose liposuction to help them achieve a look of high definition. A tummy tuck may be recommended for some athletic patients along with liposuction to achieve a truly sculpted appearance. Women may choose to have fat transfer to the breasts during their liposuction procedure, taking excess fat in one area of the body and inserting it into the breasts to create a better shape and volume. Fat transfer to the face is also sometimes viable in aging patients who wish to have volume restored such that they have a more youthful look after the procedure is complete. Patients who opt to have more than one procedure done at the time of their liposuction surgery will only have to pay once for things like anesthetic and the use of certain surgical implements. Doing two of more procedures at once also saves time which means getting lower surgeon’s fees than if you were to get the procedures done at separate sittings. And patients can save recovery time as well by having two or more surgical procedures at once. Rather than taking recovery time for two different procedures, patients can heal up from those procedures while they heal simultaneously from liposuction. And best of all, the results of several procedures will be truly remarkable once the recovery is complete.
