Horse-racing: The Mauritius horse-racing club is host to the most popular sport in this country, drawing 30,000 people a day. The racing season lasts from April to November, with an average of 9 to 12 races per day and is a must try out in one’s Mauritius packages. Tandem Skydiving — One can experience a 10,000 ft Tandem skydive after a visually superb flight. (Tandem skydiving is a type of skydiving where a student is in a harness with a tandem instructor.) The instructor guides the student through the jump from exit to freefall, piloting the canopy and landing. Hiking and Trekking: To get the most out of Mauritius tourism with spectacular locales of mountains, rivers, and forests on all sides, once can take a hiking trip through the fields, trekking on a zip line or on a bike. Ome can visit the Black River Gorges National Park to visually acquaint yourself with indigenous plants, birds and wildlife. Black River Peak trail goes to Mauritius' highest mountain while the Maccabee Trail plunges into the gorge to Black River. Nightlife and Sega dance: No one completes their Mauritius package without getting a taste of the colourful Mauritius nightlife. The local casinos are a popular hub of activity at night drawing tourists to gamble amongst exotic food, wine and locals whereas Sega dance events are organised in the resorts to treat the tourists to the national dance and music form of Mauritius.
