If you want to be a writer then copywriting is a field which can be advantageous for you. It is a very challenging field where you need to survive on your creative skills. The advertising and the public relations industry are two related fields where you can work as a copywriter. If you are a writer then you have to work basically with two things- images and words. Advertising firms are the biggest employers of copywriters. There is a lot of scope for copywriters in the advertising field of different media like TV, newspapers, magazines and other companies. An internship is a great way to start your career as a freelance copywriter. It is difficult to start your career all at once as a copywriter. This is because most agencies would want to see your body of work and what kind of experience you have in the field before they hire you for the job. An internship will help you to gather experience or the skills required for the job. For this you can search ad agencies by two methods. You can either look up the Yellow Pages to search for distinguished companies that require interns. Or you can also search for these agencies from your university or college from where you have taken the degree. Institutions that offer degrees in these areas usually know people and/or companies in the advertising field who would be able to help in this regard. 3. Staffing agencies are a good place to apply. They can hook you up for a short term jobs with ad agencies. This will help you to gather skills as well as experience. This experience will help you to update the resume and body of sample work and thereby make you more coveted when you go to apply for writer jobs elsewhere. 4. As said before there are a lot of media into which you can go in this field. Newspapers, TV, magazines are conventional fields. The internet has also become a very popular media for advertising in recent times. If you want to specialize in this media, then go for sample banner ads. Sending them to popular websites will give you exposure. Print work on the other hand would require you to write pieces or make sample ads for the magazine or paper of your choice. ethics essays
