Skilled-independent (175) - applicants under this category one must meet the following requirements • Applicant must have skill or occupation on the list of approved occupations for this category. • Applicant must have specific and recent work experience. • The age must be under 45 at the time of their application. • Applicant must have competent English. • The applicant must clear point test The skilled independent visa is a permanent resident visa with the right to apply for citizenship visa after 4 years. It does not require any sponsorship by an employer or any territory or state. In point test the passing marks are 120 and there are some other factors in addition to the above in order to earn extra points. Such as- • Proficiency level of ability in English • Any Australian community language • Capital investment Skilled-sponsored (176) –Under this category, an applicant who doesn’t clear point test can seek sponsorship from a particular territory or state or from an eligible relative living in Australia. The applicant under this category still needs to meet the requirements and must pass a skill assessment before participation in application to territory or state sponsorship. States which are currently participating in this sponsorship are- • Victoria • Queensland • Tasmania • South Australia • Western Australia • New south wales • Australian capital territory • Northern territory Skilled-regional sponsored (475) - an applicant who does not pass the point test can seek sponsorship from particular territory or state or from an eligible relative living in Australian regional area. This visa is a temporary visa and is granted for 3 years along with the right for applying permanent residency after 2 years living and working (at least 1 year) in Australia. An applicant under this still needs to meet basic requirements and must pass a skilled assessment before applying.
